Imagine a 5 am wake-up, a hot chocolate to warm you up, Christmas lights shining, and presents flowing from underneath the tree…is there anything better than Christmas morning?!
Christmas Day is so special, and as parents, we only want to make Christmas morning magical for everyone, creating really special memories and create family traditions.
Father Christmas leaves the presents, so you can leave the clues to show that he was there! From creating Santa’s footprint to opening the last day on your advent calendar to making a Christmas Breakfast, it’s simple to create memories that will last for a long time.
If you’re lucky enough to have snow, spend the morning snowman building and pretending you are in the North Pole to make Christmas special!
We’ve got a whole range of ideas to keep that Christmas spirit high, making Christmas morning extra special!
Create Santa’s Footprints
Did Santa visit? Well, you can prove it by creating Santa footprints. And it’s easy – all you need is some sugar or flour and a boot, and you’ve got evidence that Father Christmas has been this holiday season.
Simply sprinkle your sugar or flour around your book to create a footprint. If you’re feeling creative, you could even use something that looks similar to a Reindeer’s foot to create a Reindeer footprint.

A Personalised Note from Santa
It’s Christmas Day and you’ve got a letter from Santa himself? There’s no excitement quite like it! Santa does spend his days in December writing personalised letters for children across the world.
With heartfelt messages that spread the Christmas spirit, Santa’s letters are a great surprise for Christmas morning. Younger kids will appreciate this too, making Christmas magical.
At the Real Santa Letter, we have a range of letters, written by Santa himself, that can add that Christmas magic to the morning! You could even use wrapping paper to add some small gifts to this as well!
A Special Breakfast
Did someone say festive breakfast? Yes please! The holiday spirit is alive and well on Christmas morning, and so it’s important to keep everyone topped up on food (and not just a candy cane!). A Christmas breakfast is the perfect way to spend this magical morning.
Opt for fun, Christmas season-themed breakfasts, and have the whole family sit down!
Santa Hat pancakes can be made using whipped cream, strawberries, and chocolate chips to decorate.
Reindeer toast is a fun but simple breakfast. All you need is peanut butter, pretzels and blueberries and strawberries and you’ve got a fun, and tasty, meal!
Gift Opening under the Christmas Tree
Make Christmas morning about sharing love and joy; it’s a special time anyway, but you can do special things to make this early morning activity extra fun for the entire family.
For gifts from Santa, use special wrapping paper, that way, gifts from family and friends are easier to spot!
Instead of all going in and unwrapping, have everyone take turns at opening presents, this way you can keep kids occupied for a longer period of time.
This is a great time for photos, capture the joy as they open each gift!

Play Christmas Music
In the morning, whack on a Christmas playlist to set the mood for the morning, and add to the excitement. Opening gifts to the sweet sound of Mariah Carey and Micheal Buble is a feeling that’s unmatched.
These happy memories will be soundtracked to the joy of Christmas songs like jingle bells and rockin around the Christmas tree – and these are songs that people absolutely love around the entire world.
Christmas Eve Box
The night before Christmas always brings anticipation, and it can be hard to sleep and focus on anything else. One great way to help kids enjoy this night is by creating a Christmas Eve Box for them.
This can be full of pajamas, a Christmas Movie, a boo,k and hot chocolate, as well as something to help the track Santa! Let’s hope they don’t catch Santa delivering the presents…
Christmas Scavenger Hunt
On Christmas Eve, set up a scavenger hunt for the kids. Leave candy canes and small gifts around the house in places that they can find them.
You could do a theme like Santa’s workshop or Winter wonderland, and this will just help slow things down on Christmas morning and keep them occupied for a little while!
